David Carradine
Murdered?
On June 4, 2009, Carradine
who was in Bangkok to shoot his latest movie was found dead in
his room at the Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel in central
Bangkok.
Initial reports suggested that he may have been
murdered.
David Carradine’s Career covered many famous roles
including:
In 1965 he had a staring role in the Broadway play The Royal
Hunt of the Sun – For which he won the acclaimed Theatre World
Award - Best Debut Performance.
The 1970’s saw David staring in the cult TV series Kung Fu
playing the role of Kwai Chang Caine, the exiled Chinese Monk
roaming the American West instilling justice through his Kung
Fu talents.
He also stared in the 1990’s spin-off also titled Kung Fu
featuring the master's grandson continuing the good work.
1972’s Boxcar Bertha by renowned producer Martin Scorsese had
David Carradine playing the role of 'Big' Bill Shelly.
1976 saw David Carradine in Bound for Glory as folksinger Woody
Guthrie
1977 David Carradine was in the role of Abel Rosenberg in
Ingmar Bergman's The Serpent's Egg.
More recently in 2003 and 2004 he played Bill in Quentin
Tarantino's Kill Bill, Volumes 1 and 2.
David Carradine’s death at this early stage appears to be a
tragic accident. According to a police official in Bangkok
David Carradine was found hanging by a rope in a hotel room
closet and the Bangkok Post news paper reported that David
Carradine was found curled up in a wardrobe with a shoelace
tied around his genitals and neck.
The Director of the Central Institute of Forensic Science,
Khunying Pornthip Rojanasunand stated the incident met four of
the criteria for accidental death involving autoerotic
asphyxiation.
What ever the circumstance of this tragic death, it is my
hope that David Carradine is remembered for his excellent
career in entertainment.
